您是否有这样的经历？第一洞开球，到达第一洞果岭，正想拿下一记鸟推，却发现果岭上满是小孔，还铺有一层薄沙。这就是所谓的果岭打孔，相信我们大都遇到过这种情况。
Have you ever teed off on the first hole arriving at the first green ready to sink your birdie putt, only to find small holes punched in the green with a light layer of sand on top?It’s called greens aerification and this situation has happened to all of us, at one time or another.
虽然，被打过孔的果岭不能为球员提供最佳推球条件。但是，果岭打孔作业对草坪和草的健康是十分必要的。
Although freshly aerified greens are not the best condition for holing one putts, the process of punching holes in the greens is necessary for the heath of the turf and grass.
1什么是果岭打孔？
What is greens aerification?
打孔是在地面上打洞的过程，在土壤中营造空气流动空间，促进根系健康生长。
Aerification is the process of making holes in the ground, creating air space in the soil promoting a healthy root system for natural turf growth.
2为什么打孔作业是很有必要的？
Why is this process necessary?
打孔可以减轻土壤的紧实度，减少果岭枯草层，提高土壤中氧气的利用率，使水分能够到达草的根部，有利于草对肥料的吸收，减少草的病虫害。
Aeration relieves soil compaction,improves oxygen availability under the ground, allows water to reach the roots of the grass, improves fertilizer uptake and reduces turf-grass disease.
水需要进入地面，也得蒸发掉，以使草坪和草的根系保持健康。把草看成是一个活的有机体，它需要水、空气和阳光，才能茁壮成长。
In order for turf plants and roots to be healthy, water needs to go deep into the ground, as well as, evaporate out of the ground. Think of the grass as a living organism that needs water, air and sunlight to thrive and grow.
表面过多的有机物，阻止了草对水分的吸收和蒸发，使养分无法到达草的根部。随着有机物的增加和水分被封锁，果岭开始变软，像海绵一样。剪草时发生“啃地”，草坪疾病变得越来越普遍。
Too much organic matter at the surface stops water movement down and up and stops nutrients from getting to the root zone of the grass.With increased organic matter and a lack of water movement greens become soft with a sponge like feeling,scalping occurs during mowing, and turf disease becomes more prevalent.
3什么时候打孔？
When is aerification performed?
通常情况，球场会对果岭进行2次打孔，春、秋季各一次。根据草坪的健康情况，甚至可高达6次。
Typically, golf courses perform a full greens aerification two times annually. Once in the spring-time and again in the autumn-time.However, and depending on the health of the turf, this process can be done up to six times per year.
4如何给果岭打孔？
How are greens aerified?
果岭打孔需要如下步骤：

1.Hollow core green 打空心孔
2.Core removal from green 取走孔芯
3.Top dress with sand 铺沙
4.Sweep sand in to holes 拖网
5.Roll and cut green surface 滚压和修剪
5谁来对果岭进行打孔？
Who performs the aerification process?
果岭打孔由高尔夫球场草坪维护部门员工完成的。草坪总监制定一个工作计划，分配好员工，对每个果岭进行打孔作业。9个洞的打孔工作，通常可以在一天内完成。
This process is performed by the golf course maintenance department staff. The Golf Course Superintendant creates an aerification schedule and assigns staff duties and responsibilities. The process is then performed on each green and nine holes of aerification can be completed in one day.
果岭打孔最后的结果是什么呢？
What is the end result to golf course greens aerification?
结果就是我们会员都很开心！健康的草坪，没有疾病虫害，球可以在果岭上以一致的、可控的速度滚动，没有比这感觉更好的了。
The end result is happy golfers!There is no better feeling that holing putts on greens that have an abundance of healthy grass, are disease free, and allow the ball to roll at consistently controlled speeds.
