“端”字有“初始”的意思，因此“端五”就是“初五”。本周末，端午节国定放假时间为6月20日（周六）、6月21日（周日）、6月22日（周一），这3天均将按照假日收费。详情请见下方，点击图片可放大查询。
按照历法五月正是“午”月，因此“端五”也就渐渐演变成了“端午”。
《燕京岁时记》记载：“初五为五月单五，盖端字之转音也”。
